I hope Toyota just fit a solar panel or two to the roof problem solved unless you car in the garage or has a covering of snow.

    Car Viewing tomorrow (Maybe)

So do I and I agree you can sometimes do better with new than nearly new. I’ve also see nearly new cars with horrendous damage turn up on a forecourt. Running new means you get the latest spec and you do elevate yourself back to higher residual value. No MOTs often no tyres or exhaust or other wearables for a few years. Cyker Scrooge thinks he’s going to live until he’s 110 but Khaaaan will already be planning his next tax on anything with even a hybrid engine so he’ll have to cough up eventually.

    Fitting Smart Charger

I am using solar panels for charging at the moment its free electric without any mains power lead running into the house. I am still in the process of setting it up it not a open the box item that ready to use.

    Rav 4 powe..

The hybrid engines displacement is deceptive as they are Atkinson/Miller-cycle - Although it says 1.8, it feels closer to a 1.5 due to the difference in compression and expansion ratio caused by the Miller-cycle valve-timing (It expands the full 1.8L worth to extract as much energy as possible and increase efficiency, but doesn't compress 1.8L of fuel/air mix, so the torque and power is lower than in a normal Otto-cycle engine of the same displacement.). The cars will rev more if you're hoofing it as the pseudo-CVT system will optimize the revs for efficiency or power in a way no other 'gearbox' can do. It's not struggling or being damaged, it's just doing what you're telling it to do by responding to the accelerator immediately. It is something you need to get used to as normal gearboxes can't do this and you have to wait for the power to build which feels more natural to most people, esp. as you don't feel the torque building in the same way. Also most people are scared to rev out their engine to extract maximum performance and shift well before the red-line, but the hybrid system has no such qualms and will happily rev up to the maximum power RPM if told to via the accelerator pedal. The DynamicForce-branded engines (M20A in the Corolla and M15A in the Yaris) are better for feel, as if you really hammer them they switch into Otto-cycle mode - The fuel economy will drop to that of a normal ICE car but it'll haul like you'd expect a 2.0L NA engine to.

They know Chris but there are a lot of cars with no problems and the floodgates will open on those too. Have a read through the thread and you’ll find many a noble crusader that wants to tell Toyota a thing or two. You’ll end up going to a lot of effort for nothing and you might eventually get a new battery but at this stage, probably the same as the one you’ve got. It is actually in hand and they are working on it but the best thing you can do is spend £75 and 20 minutes sticking a new Yuasa battery under the back seat and be done with it. Your faith will be restored in what is actually a very good car.
  9. I found getting the tracking done fixed it if was not the sensor.
  10. The last person I gave a lift to was a young, pretty French girl backpacking in the Highlands. I considered warning her of the dangers but in the event I didn't. She had got where she had and obviously was dependent on hiking. I also hitch kicked recently (late 90s). My wife had run the car to empty and I didn't notice. I grabbed the empty can and prepared to leg it up the road when a car stopped and gave me a lift. I was a little miffed he didn't run me back 😀 but i soon got a little back. The police kindly guarded the car while i was away. I had rushed for the lift abd and left the car unlocked.

    Rav 4 powe..

I was driving a 300hp car which was no longer required, and was advised to get the 1.8 at the dealership as I fancied something a bit more economical for a change. I think the CVT gearbox doesn’t help the matter. 1.8 is a fairly decent sized engine in comparison to other vehicles these days it’s just surprising how little power they produce. another vehicle of interest is the CX60 plug in hybrid but with 320hp, I imagine it is quite different to a rav 4. appreciate the replies, thanks

Steering wheel crook lock device for Aygo X

No security device is going to be 100% effective - whether its an alarm, pedal box or steering wheel lock. The steering wheel lock I linked to has the same Sold Secure rating as Disklock, and aside from that Sold Secure properly test these devices, rather than go through a gimmicky Youtube video.

C'mon chaps and chapesses, I have arranged a test drive and another 'discussion' for next Tuesday. If you do not hurry up with your reasons not to buy, I am going to have to get one!

Auris II | Cat. Converter Insulator Vibrating

Thanks for the responses. Guess no washer is a big nono, makes sense. Tony, I did a lot of searching and agree that almost all threads are about heat shields connected to the body. But I am absolutely positive that the cat. insulator is the problem here. Searching for the CT200h gave me a hit though and replacing these rings was also mentioned. There was no follow-up after replacement unfortunately..

Looking for a yaris clean no hidden bumpz

It is indeed a good point, never trust the money grubbing types. My pal had months of trouble after part ex ing his car, and not sending off the V5 himself, trusting the dealer to do it. Speeding tickets galore based on his old motor being in places he had never been. Of course they always say they will do it to ensure that it is done properly, yeah right.

Hi David, that comment seems to imply that MPs could be receiving undeclared financial remuneration. Next you will be saying that ULEZ is a money making scheme.how very dare you.😂

  25. The Police will always say something is better than nothing, which to deter an opportunist thief is true. Yes the lock is secure, but as with anything when it comes to security the lock is not the only place to look - it always about the weakest link in the chain. For instance, there's no point putting a diamond rated lock on a wooden shed - because the door is the weakest link and easily passable. The same for the steering wheel lock vs the steering wheel, the strong lock is let down by the weak steering wheel. You could cut through a steering wheel with a hand saw relatively quickly and with little to no noise. A pedal box you (probably) couldn't do the same without a powered tool, and lots of noise. Here's a YT video testing different steering locks, and trying to break them to see how secure they really are(n't)
