Five kids were killed while speeding on a Florida airstrip in a BMW M5 this week. What makes this story morbidly interesting and a little extra shocking is that the driver had been posting on a BMW forum about problems he was experiencing with his new high-powered Beemer. He also stated on the forum that he was interested in testing local airstrips for racing/high-speed driving.

In order to give you the full story, I'm posting to a blog I'm a member of that provides all the necessary links:

Here.

Pretty horrible really reading his posts knowing he is no longer here...

it staggers me to think that any parent would let their 18yr old son out in a 500bhp M5 let alone allow him to take his mates out in it!
what a waste of life. that was one hell of a smash

This has also been discussed on the gt4oc, and the reaction is the same. Why let your 18 year old son drive something with 500bhp!?!?!? I blame the father for this negligence and the driver for his stupidity. Showing off to your mates is ok to a certain extent, but it this case 160mph + no airstrip + tree = tragedy.

Drive safe guys!!!

Condolences go to family and friends

I was driving a 300ish hp car at 17..... I never died.

If you are an idiot, in a fast car, it doesn't matter how old you are.

You'll Croak it.

I feel sorry for the friends and the M5.
