Anybody had any problems with the toyota locking wheel nuts (LWN)?

Picked up a puncture last saturday night. Luckily I was at home. Waited until sunday morning, loosened the normal nuts but for the life of me could not get the LWN adaptor to stay on properly. Just kept off slipping everytime I put some torque onto it. Ruined a pristine alloy wheel mad.gif

Called the RAC out and the first thing he said was he did not like the look of the LWN adaptor. It was not a snug fit. After signing a waiver, he used LWN remover set which is basically a tap/die set used in conjunction with a hammer and brute force to change the shape of the LWN.

The good man said go back to toyota to get a new LWN set and for the love of God go to Halfords and get a proper torque wrench to remove wheel nuts! Those tiny ones in the toolkit are useless.

Hi, not got a LC yet, but I swapped my wheels round on my RAV and can say that the LWNs can be a pain.... not the best design...

I found out the expensive way when the garage used an air wrench with the adapter, buggerd it up and had a hell of a job sorting it..
