I read something about 15B-FT somewhere. It said this engine comes in MEGA.

I have searched the whole web but couldnt locate this MEGA or 15B-FT. Any one has a pic of it? Does this thing exist?

You mean the Megacruiser.I think they only made about 150 or so for evaluation purposes with the Hummer winning the toss eventually. There is 1 or 2 floating around Oz and the same in North America.

This MegaCruiser comes in BJ series right?

is it possible that i could fit a Mega Cruisers engine (15B-FT) to a BJ74V-MNX (which comes with 13B-T)?

Some of the guys in OZ have talked about this swap but most lean to the 14BT.
I dont what relation they have to the B series diesels in the landruisers but its my guess they just have a longer stroke to give them a bit more torque and maybe some reinforcing on the block.
The problem with these motors is they dont give you much more power, just torque.
Probably the best diesel swap is to use the 1HZ 6 cyl (135HP)and add an aftermarket turbo(180HP) .I got one in my shed to replace the 3F petrol in my FJ73.Much more driveable on road.
Even a 3B with an aftermarket turbo has 15 more HP than a 13BT
I reckon the BJ74 is a nice vehicle as it is.

Here is a list of vehicles and what diesel they use http://www.nationaltruckspares.com.au/parts-toyota.asp

The 14B and 15B may actually be produced by Hino. They also made the B series motors for Toyota.

sandgroper, thanks for giving time.

Actually, I need speed with off road power. 13B-T is good but not best. I was thinking to get an engine which is more than 4000cc turbo EFI so as i have a nitrous kit for street racing and torque for off road (rally).

15B-FTE does the trick. It originally comes in Mega Cruiser. I thought, since its a B series, it would be easy to swap.

You mentioned about 1HZ. I would consider that but isnt it too big? I mean 13B-T is 4 cylinder and this is 6! I have seen 1HD-T it quiet big to fit in BJ74.

As for after market turbo. I would say that what comes orginal is good. If its non turbo engine, making it turbo will not feel like the orginal thing. I would consder a Supercharger rather than turbo there. what do you say?

Also if 14B can go cant 15B go in BJ74? i mean they are the same thing arnt they?

Btw, tell me what modifications have you made to you FJ73?

The 1HZ is the most common motor in 7*series landcruisers especially the HZJ75.
The motor is designed to fit into any 70 series with a few mods. Its the same length as the 2H,12HT and F 6cyl motors,+or-30mm
The 1HD-T is the turbo version of the 1HZ
The down side to this conversion is you need to change the g/box
My 73 is a 1988 that I bought off someone who had lost their drivers lic and their job.It had no brakes ,clutch windscreen was chipped, aircon in a bucket, and on and on and on. Anyway I worked on it for 4 weeks to get it relicensed and it passed 1st time.
Its fairly standard with 33x10.5x15 BFG A/T with Dobinson springs .The tyres and suspension lifted it about 4 1/2 inches
It has an alloy bull bar with side bars ect.
Interior and body is very good for age and it has the factory roll bar.
I spent my time and money getting a good reliable vehicle rather than spending on mods that will come after my engine swap.
The g/box is a bit clunky so will be replaced with the motor.Motor is still perfect at 250000 klms
Eventually I want to add a winch and ARB air lockers UHF radio ect.
The 3F petrol 6 is faster than the 13BT and 1HZ but consumes around 18-20 litres per 100 klm or 15 -16 mpg.Im hoping to get about 23 mpg out of the 1HZ.
Supercharging is ok if you can afford a good blower like a Sprintex
Here is some performance and turbo info on the 1HZ

These figures tend to suggest the B motors are basically the same block.

Ok that means i can go for 15B-T. I hope it works and i find a used 15BT @ reasonable price.

Hey and you mentioned UHF, are you a HAM radio freak? Well, I am ;)

BTW, i dont think there is a way to get a 1HZ/1HD on a BJ74. Besides that, i think the orginal gear box is good since it gives good power in 1st (I dont have to go 4x4, I just release clutch and it does the rest).

Your story is intresting. I have also lifted the body and has this BF All terrain tyres.

I had a FJ (came with this 2F engine). Yes it consumes a lot. I changed its engine to 3B (i am talking in early 93). I removed everything i.e enigne/box/ nut bolts everthing, cleaned it up painted it then re assembled it. I lifted its body used BF MUD Terrain tyers. I had bought the FJ for USD.1666 spend about USD.2000 sold it for USD 16,000. I was offered 18,000 for it but it was a bit late then.

I would have shown you pics but the fourm i think doesnt allow it.
