I have a 2001 Toyota Tacoma, it seems there is a problem with the drive shaft as I do get a slight clunk and almost a slight push forward after applying the breaks. This happens a lot but not all the time. It does concern me as I just purchased this truck used but in great shape. I read the prior comments which suggest "this is normal for Toys as it is called axle wrap, when you come to a stop there's still torque stored up in the axle. When you let off the brakes the torque is released and sent through the drive shaft feeling like someone hit you behind". This is the exact description in which I am experiencing regarding my 2001 Tacoma 4 Door 4x4. One comment from toodlums on 5/22/04 stated Toyota is aware of it and is a supposed have a repair directive to fix this problem. I took my Toy in and the dealer is not sure what is causing it? He tried to pack the sleave in which the dirve shaft moves in but this did not resolve the problem. Any one else having this same issue..it looks as if the answer may be yes. If so, has any one resolved the issue? If resolved how? Would it be under warrenty as I do have my Transmission warrenty still in effect? Any recall notices? Please help
