Hi forum members........Am looking around for a 4x4 , have around £7000 to 8k to spend.Need something to take family out in, yet the vechile must tow around 2.5tonnes and be able to carry some work gear in the back aswell. I do around 20,000miles per year so would like to be comfortable at times.I thought about a toyota colarado 3.0 gxtd but have heard that cylinder heads where a problem on some cars.I know that surfs 2.5 had problems but the 3.0 didnt.Anyone, any ideas!!!! :help:

thanks mick
Andy
You are correct about the Surfs heads on the 2.4, but legally the 3.0 Surf cannot tow 2.5 tons, although it's more than capable, you will have to look at the Landcruiser, either the Colorado or the 80 series with a 4.2 td, mpg will be around 25 to the gallon, very much the same as a Surf, but with loads more torque.

thanks mate..
which models are the best and what will i find for that sort of money?
Andy
It should get you a 80 series 4.2 td around 95-96, and a bit newer in the Colorado, personally I would go for the 4.2 td, they have loads of torque, and the equipment level will be better.

Thanks mate.....Is the 4.2td a landcriuser and how many mpg would i get?
Andy
The 4.2td is an 80 series Landcruiser, should get around 25 mpg, or more depending on how you drive.
