Probably only 1 cat but can you see the sensor underneath? It is normal to have 2 sensors these days (a requirement for OBDII) but earlier cars had 1. You might be telling us something different and maybe yours/some have 2.

mine does not have a obdII socket it just has the diagnostics port in the engine bay near the power steering res. I have changed the exhaust the only bit i have not changed is the exhaust mainfold. i have changed the cat, mid pipe and rear silencer.

Hi MrBilly
You car should only have one sensor, if it had two you would be able to see one in the engine bay near the headers.
The sensor is just before the CAT and will no doubt be a nightmare to get off due to the nuts rusting solid. Soak'em in WD40 or Plusgas before you attempt a removal. I replaced mine with stainless steel ones...
NOTE: Be careful if you get another sensor with a mounting plate (see pics in other thread - http://toyotaownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=81552 ) , the plate is fragile and will snap in two - mine did and I'm going to have to make one now. Will probably make it out of mild steel rather than the very brittle metal the original one is. Might be an idea to screw the sensor into the mounting plate before you bolt it to the exhuast - live and learn :-)
If you suspect the sensor is faulty get it changed quick as it can result in permanent damage to the CAT due to to lean/rich mixture. They usually run rich when faulty...
