Full Version: Where Can I Get A Replacement Oil Cap?

It seem that I may have forgotten to put mines back on after filling up

Tried ebay but i'm not looking for an expensive sport cap, just a simple cheap replacement... any ideas out there?

Also how about new alarm/key fobs, as one of mine is broken and the other is well on its way!

Appreciated, thanks.

I'd suggest a breakers yard or your local Toyota Dealer if you're in a hurry for one. I don't think there's a universally compatible one available like there is with petrol caps.

I did that with my Honda - makes a hell of a mess, doesn't it

In my case, went to Honda dealer, none in stock so I ordered one from them and asked them to give me one from one of the cars on the forecourt so I could get on my way again and they would keep the new one when it arrived :D - Honda one was only £3 or something, so Toyota will be similar I would guess.

thanks for your feedback guys.

Ian i'm in Aviemore, if you have it and feel like posting it up I could send you a few bob through Paypal or something?
Though i'll probably need to go to the dealer anyway to sort my keys out.... either way.

£103 for a new key! :o

I don't know what I was expecting but certainly not that amount.... the chappy on the phone made it clear right enough that it takes a bit more to sort it out rather than just presenting me with another key.

I've tried a bit of superglue for now........

There have been a few posts about keys here - depending on why you need a new key, your savings by not using the Toyota dealers vary.

if it is the electronics that need fixing and then reprogramming, then £103 seems to be a good deal compared to what many seem to get quoted :o
if it is the fob falling apart and you need new plastics, then eBay shopping can provide cheap replacements, I think.
If it is the metal key itself, then a combination of a new blank via eBay buying and a key cutter can be done.

Have a browse around the RAV4 section - there are definately posts about that here, and also likely in other sections of the TOC forum as a whole.

Its just the plastic bit of the fob... i'll see if I can find the posts about it....many thanks

just ordered some key cases from ebay... hopefully the innards are easily transfered.

Good stuff

If you have the chance, could you take a couple of photos of the process? would be really handy to see what is needed to do the swap :)
