I just got my1999 Avalon back from the shop after having the rear struts replaced when my ABS light came on. I'm sure there is no connection to the struts; its just that when things go bad they really go bad. The individual who replaced the struts is sure the ABS Acuator has gone bad and is not the brakes since they work extremely well. The Toyota parts dealer quoted me $1300+ for a new unit and didn't know if the unit could be replaced by by a "used" one from another Avalon. The front end of the ABS Acuator unit has four screws and two harness connections so it appears the "controller" portion of the unit can be parted from the entire ABS Acuator. Presently I can't afford a new unit so does anyone have opinions on the issue.
