I'm considering buying an Invincible to replace my Subaru Outback (Legacy on stilts!) - one of the great things about the Outback is the way it handles at speed on minor roads as well as coping with unmade tracks - which is all the off-road capability I need.

Now I'm well aware that 4x4s with real off-road ability have soft long-travel suspension which compromises their tarmac handling ability. Clearly the Invincible with TEMS will suit my needs better than LC4 but will it be good enough on it's lowest/stiffest setting?

I'm also aware that an Invincible will trounce the Outback off-road and that any car with handle/ride well on smooth straight roads - but can it match the Outback on the bendy bits of tarmac - typical British country lanes ?

All help from existing owners would be much appreciated.

All I can say is that my car can push along quite quickly, even through bendy bits, when I want it too

Thanks, that's good to hear - all vehicles lean during cornering, it's just the degree that varies.

As a young whipper-snapper, I grew up with the interesting handling of Anglias, Cortina-Lotus and an Escort Mexico - after 30 years of driving stodgy, economical front-wheel drive cars, despite being higher and much softer than most Subaru's, the Outback's handling put a big smile on my face starting during the first test drive - I don't want to lose that.

Hello all, newbie here. Just picked up brand new Invincible for £31k!

It is equipped with TEMS and when in sports setting, gives a bone crushing ride but amazing handling/composure on the road for something so tall.

Was apprehensive at first as I was driving a Merc CL500 which is equipped with ABC that gives a completely level ride in corners, with no body roll.

My first car was a 1987 Carina. Good to come back to Toyota rather than be a X5/Range Rover Sport clone!!!!!!

Done 450 miles in 7 days and cant wait to take it off road.
The engine starting to loosen up but desperatly want to improve acceleration. Any tips on ECU chips?

Jed.... darn it mate.... you could have had my 2 year old/4000mile example for around £19,000. My car is going back to the same dealer at Lookers in Romford in about 10 weeks time

As for an ECU chip.... I would receommend staying with the Toyota chip, that way your warranty will not be affected

After reading this thread I realised I'd left my car on "sport" for the past 3 months - just reduced it one notch and much more comfortable over speed humps!

Planning on keeping ours for a long long time

I agree, leaving it in the third notch/setting gives best ride comfort/body control.
