Looking at buying a Rav4 probably one of the above, definitely a 3-door. Was wondering if someone could tell me the differences between the two and which is generally considered the better vehicle?

Also how technically advanced are they? I think I'll be looking at 2003/2004 models, do they have in-built sat nav for example?

Thanks in advance!

The 4.2 Rav originally came in NV and NRG trims in 3 and 5 doors. GX and VX trims were only available with 5 doors. When Toyota face-lifted the Rav in 2003 it reduced the trims to 3 - XT2, XT3 and XT4, XT4 was 5 door only.

In 2004 a fourth model was added - Granite, which offered more standard kit (e.g CD changer) than the XT3 but was a lower price than the XT4. It was available in 3 and 5 doors.

The face-lifted models have side airbags and better quality interior trim. None of the 3 door models came with sat nav as standard, so I'd go for an XT3 or Granite instead of an NRG. :)

Hope that's some help...
