Full Version: Spare Wheel Lock Stuck!

Hi,

I've recently bought a 2004 3.0 D4D LC4, spare wheel mounted on rear door.

Whilst testing everything, I found that I could not unlock the centre spare wheel lock.

As I didn't want to break the key I've soaked it with WD40 a couple of times now, but still can't get the key to turn?

Just wondered what my best option would be, incase I need my spare and can't access it.

I'd imagine I could drill the lock, if I had to, but was wondering if anyone else has had this problem?

Thanks.
Andy
Drill it and buy a new one.

It's probably clogged up inside (with dirt, dust and salt from the roads), as I don't think its been used.

I'll probably drill it as a last resort, but would prefer to have a lock that operated with my ignition key, to be honest.

As I've never seen it removed, I'm not sure what's behind it either, although I'd imagine it will just be a centre securing bolt?
