Sod that. I've only got 140k on the clock and will continue to pollute y'all with diesel fumes for many years to come!!

Too right - Carinas are normally only warming up for action at that amount of miles - for years they dominated every taxi rank in Ireland. I remember asking a taxi driver how much miles he had up on his 88 Carina way back in 1995 or thereabouts "100 000 (didn't buy it new obviously) but they'ill do 3" (meaning 300 000 miles). My sister had a petrol Carina II - fantastic car. Should have stuck with the older (lean burn and older engines) on the petrol Avensises (early MK1 Avensises prior to the facelift models did have lean burn engines) rather then moving over to VVTIs (although emissions regulations may have played a part)
