Hi Everyone,
I'm new to the TOC site and forum and have had a "wee rekkie round" to familiarise myself with all the different sections. I suppose I must own up to the reason why I joined the TOC in the first place, and that is quite simply to try to save a few bob. I have never been behind the door when having to get anything done to my Landcruiser Colorado 3.0l automatic (Reg. year 2000) and to be honest, it's never had a lot wrong with it, but in these horrible economic times, a visit to the garage to have even something minor done can cost an arm and a leg. I suppose the next best thing is to "hang out" with like-minded Toyota owners and pool our knowledge (if we were clever enough to buy the worlds greatest motors, we must surely be clever enough to overcome minor(?) motor repairs).
And so to my little problem: As all of you who run a Colorado will know, to start the engine you must have the gear lever in the "PARK" position or else the starter won't engage. Recently I have found that when I get into the vehicle to start it, the starter clicks once or twice as if the lever were not in the "PARK" position when in fact it is, then on the second or third attempt the starter will operate perfectly. The thing that bugs me is not the fact that it takes a couple of attempts to start the vehicle, but, as the starter is connected in some way to the gears/gearbox, am I being forewarned of worse things to come or is it really just a loose connection or similar minor problem.
If I must go to the garage then so be it, but if any of you good people can identify my problem and can help, I would be very grateful indeed (and a little less poor)
Thanks one and all and I'll probably get to know some of you a little better as I trawl all the interesting places on the TOC site. Happy (Toyota) Motoring.
Cheers, thedeckstar.
