2005+ Avensis 1.8/2.0 Vvti's

Hi All,

Impending fatherhood and having 2 Golden Retrievers means sadly that my Corolla T-Sport has to go for something more practical :(

After 2 years and 25k the T-Sport has been pretty much faultless, so I fancy another Toyota due to their reliability and a hatchback Avensis ticks most of the boxes.

I'm worried though about oil consumption problems though, does it affect 2005-2006 1.8/2.0 VVTI's??

By early 2005, Mr T had realised there was a problem with oil consumption on the petrol engines and had modified parts that resolved the issue. An extended guarantee was given to owners of cars that were confirmed to have oil consumption issues, terms and conditions were that under 7 years old, less than 100k miles and full Mr T ( ideally ) service history, if I am correct.

By 2005 these modified parts were fitted and it should resolve the problem. A late 05 onwards should not be an issue, just make sure the history is squeeky clean and bang up to date, just in case ! My 55 plate, 60k, 1.8 hardly uses any oil, but I do check weekly, possibly more !
