Hi,

I have a 2005 model T4 Avensis 1.8 hatchback with the TNS300ETA satnav. My problem is that if the car is in the garage the orange light on the split screen display shows the screen good, when the car is taken out of the garage into full daylight the screen goes grey and is impossible to see anything on it from the drivers seat. Can anyone tell me if this is normal or is it possible to retain the same background lighting somehow that I get in the garage. Altering the brilliance on the dash lights has no effect.

Many thanks for any replies,

Brian

Hi,

Does the changing of the display colour coincide with the headlights going on/off? I'm thinking that if you have the lights on auto they may be on when you are in the garage and then switch off when you are in daylight. This is linked to an option in the menu for the satnav that will alter the display according to day/night conditions. Altering the setting in the menu may cure your problem.

Regards,

Neil.

Hi Neil and Gordi, thanks for your suggestions but I think you both have different models to mine. Mine is 2005 vintage although registered March 2006. It does not have auto headlights and according to the satnav handbook there is no option in the menu regarding the satnav lighting. As regards a fault in the lighting I don't think there is as it is alright in dim light but not in normal light. My satnav is the TNS300ETA non colour variety and strictly turn by turn.

Thanks again for your suggestions, best regards,

Brian

Hi Gordi,

Thanks for trying to put me straight but I am starting to wonder if it is my eyes at fault, like me they were 81 years old last month. I have a TomTom 520 and I will continue to use thst.

All the best,

Brian
