Rav4 Door Stay Query

I have a Rav4 Mk 2 2004. When opening the rear side doors, I notice that they do not have any stays to keep them open, like any other car I have ever owned! I need to know whether they should have, as I will need to get them fixed under warranty.

Could anybody advise please? Thanks in advance.

Many thanks. So on the diagram it is called Door Checker.

I could believe that one was broken, but both? They both stop you from opening the door too wide but don't offer any resistance to it closing again. Weird!

It sounds like they are broken or have been disabled. They should provide definite clicks to restrain the doors at half and fully open positions.

The ones for the back door are £50 - £60 each so chase them under warranty.

Without wanting to put a damper on things, I re-iterate my previous advice to take out Hinge In surance. Here is a case in point where Hinge Insurance would have paid out for any resulting mishaps or accidents with a 5 door RAV. ( )
