Hi,

Just get yourself a new gear box. My avensis 1998 has similar issue, it turned out that was the problem!

Good luck

with the older fords ive worked on the linkage had to be fitted perfectly or it would select certain gears or would pop out of gears,is the avensis using the same linkage system.

what could have caused this during gearbox work, not happy if its a new box.was fine before

wheni got it back it was leaking oil badly and it got sent back to him.he changed the body gasket and it sorted the problem although it was noisy after.presume it was low .

has only started to jump out of gear in the last few days.

Maybe he has tried to use the old dirty transmition fluid.

I would recommend taking it else where and remove all old oil and refill correctly if with correct type.

Drive it... warm it up nice and hot

10 ish miles of driving ..

Drain it.. leave it draning for a while.. (let it dip)

Then refill with a pump

Hi everyone!

Before i bought my Avensis 2.2 D4D i was told to avoid any high mileage 5 speed d4d's as jumping out of 5th gear was a common problem (along with other issues) ..... so i got the later 2007 6 speed model.

Can anyone confirm this was the correct advice.

Regards .... Pete.
