Remote Locking

For the last few weeks my rav(4.2 petrol) has been getting difficult to unlock. It takes 6 or7 presses on the remote before the locks respond. Once they have opened the remote functions normally until the locks are left open or closed for some time. The problem is worst in the morning or after work when the rav has been standing. Standing close to the vehicle makes no difference and I have changed the batteries and tried the spare key.

Does anyone know if the receiver in the vehicle can play up or any suggestions to try?

Probably not in your case, but if you are near any extraneous radio transmitters you can experience difficulties, I once went to pay for fuel + left my phone in the car, when i got back the phone was ringing + I could not unlock my doors, had a similar experience near a radio mast, but i am sure someone will come up with a more credible answer.. Glad to hear you are back to normal with the remote locking. Batteries of the button cell type often get discharged accidentally when being handled [see Anchorman's key fob Battery change guide in the pinned section]
