Hi guys

Thanks for letting me join this forum!

I own Toyota Yaris 1.5 VVT-i and its UK 51 plate. I want to know if anyone can help me.

Can someone tell me the BHP?

Can someone tell me a away to get a custom headunit or iPod intergrated system without removing the current build in CD dash?

Can anyone tell me if there are super or performance chips for this car. Its 1.5 petrol.

Toyota Yaris 1.5 VVT-i T Sport

Thanks!

What is a standard T Sport - are there more?

Do you know how to remove the front grill Badge - I want a Badge brandless front grill - If I remove the current Toyota silver Badge - is there plain black remaining plastic?

Thanks

(I posted this twice now)

Welcome as a new member. I'm sure there are many TSport owners who will be able to help better when they read this, but just to offer some advice in the meantime...

To integrate an iPod, you want to look for an iPod interface. They usually connect to the CD-Changer socket, so as long as you have the "standard" single slot CD player and don't already have a cd changer fitted as well, thay should be an option for you...

Something like this is the thing. I just searched on google for "Yaris ipod adapter" and this is the first that came up....

http://www.nexxia.co.uk/iPod_MP3_Adaptors/Toyota.htm

In terms of performance extras - chips are usually most effective on turbo cars. I don't know if there are any tuning chips available for the Yaris, but as its not a turbo, I doubt it...

Many people have fitted induction kits to replace the standard air filter box and they seem to be happy with the results.

There are some that have gone as far as to fit a turbo to the engine but that's a major task.

So yes there are ways to tune the 1.5 Yaris - it depends how much you have to spend and how far you want to go.

You'll need to be patient for replies on this forum. Whilst its very good (I think its the best UK Yaris forum) and there are some really good people on it, it does sometimes take time for people to view and respond. Don't expect instant answers as some people only look on the forum once a week....

I'm sure you'll get more feedback from other T Sport owners within the next few days....

1st- A standard T sport with no mods at all should be running around 105hp depending on what web sites you look at.

2nd- If you have a look at the centre of your dash you have a black tray sort of thing underneath your current head unit. his should fit most other head units, if not then you can get a custom fit dash where it replaced the current one heres the link to the custom part link

You will have to take the centre part apart to fit any head unit.

3rd- There is no chip or anything like that to up rate the performance of the T sport. You would have to buy a piggy back unit but with no other mods such as induction kit, manifold, back box etc there would be no point cause you would just be remapping the standard power not the extra power gained. Now you could spend x amount on a superchip but it only fools your engine into thinking theres more air and petrol entering your engine which leads to a new engine replacement or gasket. Like my mate found out in his 206.

Hope this helps

Good advice, those cheapo chips off e-blay fool the ECU into thinking the air outside the car is cold all the time, so the ECU gives the car more fuel/air mixture to compensate.

The only results are an increase in fuel economy and at the prices they are again, that's not a good thing!

Infact one of my younger immature mates bought one for his ford focus and it did absolutely nothing at all..i did tell him that but he bought one anyway.

Full stainless exhaust system without the cat, good cold feed induction kit will work wonders on a T-Sport and will definatley make the car quicker and more fun, plus you could allways strip it out to lighten it if you don't like passengers!

As allways though, it all depends on your budget.

Thanks.. I just bought it now - is there anything to replace the top replacement too - the clock one with the radio and volume.. just above the heaters??

Really thanks for that link

I use to own a BMW 118d ES - I bought a chip modding system from eBay from germany, cost about £150 and then got it fitted too.. it made it go from 143bhp to 163bhp which then was the same speed as a cooper s... and it was more eco friendly making it 43mpg! it was really good.. at first it screwed the car up and took two three minutes to get into the system.. but the performance was MASSIVE difference.. 0-60 speed increased straight away.. so some modding units and chip systems are good.. look at john cooper s..

As for all the advice so far thanks.. two questions now come to mind..

Can I remove the front toyota Badge without leaving a black mark - is there a front grill replacement to make it look brandless?

Is there NO way - cost is not a question - to make or increase the BHP anyway?

Im not 100% sure but the buttons wont work apart from the trip computer thing that tell your your mgp etc. You will need an ISO connector as well to convert the Toyota inputs to a universal 1 LINK.

It will probably leave a mark of some sort so it will need buffing out. If you want you can replace it with a Vitz Badge instead which some people do. You can also remove the TS Badge but it does leave the grill bare.

To increase your bhp i suggest that you buy and Induction kit (K&N typhoon £180), Manifold depending or where you go can cost up to £300 or you can get one from the states at £100 or so, sports cat again depends where you go for a price, performance back box and the a piggy back unit like a G-reddy for £500 which you would have to take it to a plce where you can do dyno runs to map out the power properly.

With my calculations from 105hp to i'd say about 120hp - 130hp at tops. You would end up spending something like at tops not including fitting for induction kit and exhaust system around £1200 for 15 to 25bhp

With a manifold/high flow cat and induction kit dyno results have shown 120bhp

With the same mods and a dastek piggyback ecu the max achieved is 135bhp but most are around 130.

For me it wasnt about the power figure but the car picks up alot better now and is alot more "driveable"

Well at least i was right about how much power you would be looking at. What mods have you done and how much have you spent?

Hi,

as a very cheap mod to give 3 - 5 bhp the best advice I can offer is get a K&N replacement panel filter. Japanese Performance magazine recently tested all filters and induction kits and found this gave better results than most induction kits which were more about noise than actual meaningful performance. If you want improved induction noise and performance then a full race spec air box would be the best option but it's gonna cost lots.

I find my T Sport with K&N is nippy enough and in truth even with Eibach suspension feel the little Yaris would struggle with much more power as it does struggle putting the power down out of bends and roundabouts; otherwise its a great little warm hatch. I reckon the JDM Vitz RS with a Turbo and LSD must be awesome as a LSD would really help traction and eliminate power understeer/torque steer. I hear they have around 150bhp which taking account of the weight would give similar bhp/tonne figures to a Clio Sport 200 Cup!

Yumma

for 130bhp you would need to buy:-

K &n Typhoon Kit cost around £180

Manifold OBX eBay US £90 + import

Sports cat Envy performance arouond £300

Back box around £200

Piggy back ECU Greddy Around £375

Then you would have to fit the parts and get it remapped so it could cost anything between £1200-£1700

Also if you wanted 200bhp from your Yaris you would need to get a turbo which some guy has got a 227bhp Yaris from the other yarisclub web site and he has spent like £10k on everything.

TBH mate I wouldnt bother spending that amount on the Yaris unless you have absolutely nothing else to spend your cash on. I would just spend the money of a better car.

Even with 200BHP you would struggle to use all the power. Best option is to buy a turbo kit £2000 not fitted which will give you about 140bhp then leave it at that. You'd be able to keep up with Golf GTis and Civic TRs but dont expect miracles cause at the end of the day its a Yaris and is designed to have no more that 110bhp at most.

Also bare in mind that you have to stop at some point so money for better discs and pads would be a good idea, plus dont forget that you want to minimize body roll so, coilovers and strut braces are a must have if you want to be able to corner quickly

Best thing for you to do if your serious about doing is a lot of searching on the internet, thats what I did and relized that it wasnt worth all that money for such little gains.

Thanks for the informative reply man. Much love. I think I am going to go for an A3, I have had a 1 series (BMW), they are great but I like the A3 better. You can get used ones from 4000.

How do I debadge my car, I know hair dryer but how? no marks? And most importantly - how do I debadge the front grill of the toyota yaris - if I take the toyota Badge off, will it leave a big T hole??

TBH mate I dont debadge cause I always get marks I let my mate do it. He uses some stuff in a bottle, an old credit card and something else to clean it all up. I dunno about taking the front Badge off cause most people I know that have done it, replaced it with a Vitz Badge instead. Sorry cant be any more helpful for you.

Unfortunately not. If you got onto the other Yaris website ask a few people on there. Also I think once youve got the stuff you need it wont be hard to do.
