S54 And E56 Transmissions

Hi, Can anyone tell me whether the 5th gear and the synchro hub are the same on the S54 and E56 transmissions fitted to a an ST202 Celica.

I have an import ST202 with S54 transmission and 3SGE engine which jumps out of 5th gear.

I've changed the engine/ gearbox mounts but it's still the same, even though when I took the 5th gear cover housing off the gearbox the 5th gear and synchro didn't look to be too badly worn. I have what I believe to be an E56 transmission unit which was sent to me in error. I can see that there are differences between the two transmissions, notably the 5th gear housing on the E56 is pressed steel whereas that on the S54 is cast alloy.

Would it be possible to swap the 5th gear and synchro hub from the E56 to the S54? If so are there any pitfalls or other consequences?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give
