This is a tale about my Battery not my car !!

Anyway I was due to get shut of my old Toyota (Got a newer one!) & it had been stood for a little while & the MOT had just expired & I thought I'd get rid before the end of novenber so I'd get more tax rebate.

Far too many jobs to make an economical repair but the scrap yard was offering more if I drove it there.

So I charged the Battery up but it was still too flat. Took it off & charged it for a long time & still not good enough.

I then noticed it said Halfords Calcium Battery, 4 yrs warranty.

So I searched frantically for the receipt & found it.(One of Halfords infamous fading receipts.)

I could just make the date out,the 4 yr warranty expires in November.(I'd paid 60 odd pounds for it on special offer .)

Anyway they tested it & said it was fu*ked (Oficially  )

So they gave me a replacement one a HCB013 Calcium with a new 4 yr warranty!

(The price of the battery has gone upto £100)

There was no way I was gonna put a £100 battery onto a car I would be getting less than that at the scrap yard!

So a great result :yahoo: but the battery is too small for my new Toyota. :(

Not quite another 4 year warranty  .................Your receipt reads:

"THE WARRANTY ON ANY REPLACEMENT Battery WILL EXPIRE ON THE ORIGINAL Battery WARRANTY EXPIRY DATE"

This is done to prevent Halfords having to provide replacements for life :)

We queried this & they assured us the new one was covered for a further 4 years, Her words were "The four year guarantee will run from today for this new Battery." Though looking at the receipt that statement doesn't look good! :(

Maybe I'll revisit them, try & see the same person to ask if what she said can be backed up with some paper work.

I'll report back on here. TBH if they really believed in their batteries there would be no problem offering a new warranty on a "new" Battery.

Though due to dishonest people in society I can fully see where you are coming from.
