Get a not netgear ;)

I have had a couple and noticed they got really hot, my last netgear that broke after a few years of use actually got the the point where the plastic was discoloured with heat!

My current Linksys (Cisco) router also runs quite hot, I would say it's normal.

A router shouldn;t slow down general PC performance either. Have you got the latest firmware on it?

My Dlink router is quite cool but the power supply is very hot. Don't worry too much but keep yours in free air for max cooling

Get something like a small desk fan blowing over it to get the hot air away. It has worked well for me so far with an old amp. that's in my room, so should work just fine for something like that.

But make sure that you put a little something underneath it to prop it up, otherwise the hot air is just pushed back into the router. :)

Hi charlie , i am not totally sure if we have the latest firmware installed , i would say probably not , but will check with the wife to be sure , as the computer is her department , i have only really started using the computer in the last year or so , so am still fairly ignorant as to how everything works , i have zero patience and it used to drive me mad waiting around for everything to load up :bangin: it would get to the point where i wanted to break the computer :blushing::lol: however the wife changed the computer last year and paid for a better broadband package , so now i am much happier , but yes i am still learning as to how everything works .
