A Query For Those Happy With Their Mmt

Hi I have a quick query (or two) regarding the MMT, as I got an 56 Verso this week.....(dont groan that will be question 2)!!

1) is it okay to swap from Manual to Easy when you are driving? For example when pulling out of a side road onto a main road, the E function (I assume because the Verso is a big heavy car) struggles and is jerky. Wheras in M its fine. So I am tending to use the M setting for start off and then switching to E. I would Use E for stop start traffic, cruising, for slowing to junctions, and for slow driving. The M for accelerating onto a motorway, then switching to E. Does this make sense? and is it the best way to drive? The dealership were actully great and I did have plenty of time to try the vehicle in various situation and I thought it was brilliant. But now I actually have it I want to be sure that I am driving it as it should be. OR should it simply be drive in E or drive in M not mix and match.

2) the Verso! I saw it, tried it, loved it, bought it...then made the fatal mistake of looking online....only to find complaint after complant about the MMT Verso version. Which of course had me thinking OMG what have I bought!!! So, any happy MMT Verso drivers out there (keeping everything crossed there are). As I am aware people are far more likely to go online to complain than maybe praise???? Also the majority of the thread out in internet land seem to be pretty old.....

3) The car is a 56 plate, has 23,000 on the clock has been owned by same person since new. Has been serviced at my local dealers (where I had my Corolla done) and I have always felt that I could trust them. So I am keeping fingers crossed that this car is okay....

Comments gratefully recieved, although I would rather not hear any more of the negatives as I have read so many to date.....

I had a M.M.T Corolla for nearly two years. I used to swap between Manual and Easy as you describe according to the road conditions.

Makes a lot of sense.

If you treat it as motor controlled manual gearbox and not a fully automatic you will be O.K.

I have friends who have M.M.T with no problems.

Hope your new baby gives you years of trouble free motoring.

Is MMT a proper F1 style sequential automated manual then? Or a switched auto with a torque converter?
