Dont do it is the best advice...........................You will become an easy target for the boys in blue who do not like small (and illegal) front number plates.

My Youngest son had a small sized plate on his car and was stopped within one week of fitting it and served with a notice to get the correct sized plate fitted.

It really is not worth the hassle.

UK registration plates must comply with the British Standard BS No. AU 145d. Also legitimate number plate suppliers must only sell such plates on proof of idenity and vehicle registration documents (V5). And each plate must show an identification mark of the maker and or supplier.:)

For further information see link below

You can have a smaller plate if your registration number is only four or five digits (as in personal plate).

Can’t be done legally with a regular seven digit number.

Number plate MOT failures:

small plates - italic letters - 3d lettering - background designed plates - any deviance from the letter that alters the standard letter.

TOW BALL failure - obscuring number plate on rear up to 20 feet, the rear plate has to be unobstrucked.

3D lettering is permitted and an mot pass!!!!!!!will post the vosa page up when i'm back at work.

So you came on here asking for advice, which you received, and chose to ignore.

Best of luck with the South Wales Police...................You must have a fat wallet! :P ;)

Please let us know on here if you do or do not get stopped about your plate

How many digits in your number? The 16 is OK with a 4 or 5 digit plate, the height may be an issue though as you can’t have an 11mm border with the correct size digits on a 3.5 plate.

Problem nowadays is there are so many ANPR cameras around you can’t go anywhere which being scanned.

I’ve seen a DVLA van with 4 of them on the roof, one on each corner! Police have them fitted on every other Police car around here so it won’t be long before you get flagged up.

Good luck

That's the way I look at it. I have never had a legal number plate on my Toyota's, the police have commented on them but have never "done" me for them. Just lucky I guess, but I am sure my day will come lol.

I think the only real problem with ANPR is when they can't read your plate.

Yes a toy techy, sticking to my guns, will continue to read only and help via email only, all previous posts just cleared, valuable info removed.

I will help those who say thank you and appreiate my work, a selection of your members have my details, and will assist them as and when.

:bye:

Talk about throwing your teddy out the pram! Valuable info removed – I will help those that say thank you - get over yourself, you’re not the only one who is ‘in the know’...

Maybe 3D fonts will be a MOT failure at your garage, but as long as the digits are the correct size and font it will pass at other garages.

I think I’ve met people like you before...
