Starter Motor (2002 Yaris T Sport)

Hi all,

I'm wondering if anyone can confirm where the starter motor is located in the engine on a 2002 Yaris (T Sport)? Is it fairly common for these to be problematic? Also, on the 2002 T Sport model is it possible that the starter motor may be a 0.8kw or a 1kw model? If anyone could could confirm that would be great! Going to be looking at someone's car later so this info will be of use.

Located the starter motor, no issue. No clear markings as to whether it's 0.8kw of 1kw and I'm told the 2002 T Sport Yaris could be either - anyone know if this is definitely the case? Thanks.

Hi,

The markings on the starter motor should reveal the part number.

The part number for the 0.8kW motor is 28100 21020, but if the part number ends in '030' then it's a 1kW.

Thanks Stan. Towed the car yesterday and got it started - turned out after a long saga that it was the Battery not the starter motor! Thanks for the info though, appreciate the reply.
