Can anyone give me a bit of advice re the auto box on a 1.3 Y plate Yaris please.

Does it have its own fluid supply / sump or is it fed from the engine oil. If it has its own supply can you advise on service interval for changing the fluid please

Thanks

Yes, it has its own fluid and sump - it is a traditional auto-box in that it has a torque converter. If you are serious about undertaking a change of the fluid you might consider obtaining this. According to the Haynes manual renewal of the fluid is specified every 20,000 miles but it probably depends on the type of driving you do. If you do any heavy towing then it is probably well worth carrying out. Oh yes, the fluid is Toyota Genuine ATF Type T-IV. Good luck. ;)
