Where To Buy Carpet Mats

Hello all, I'm soon to receive a brand new Yaris, it will be the 2010 model hopefully, and I can't wait! :D Basically I have been quoted for a set of car mats for about £65 from a Toyota dealer, which is a a bit dear compared to the £30-£40 range in Halfords. I was wondering if there was anyone who might be able to suggest where I could get a set of mats which would be cheaper and just as tailored to fit in the new Yaris. I read somewhere in this forum, that the Yaris requires pegs/clips to hold the mats in place? Which I'm guessing the sets in Halfords might not provide. I'v been having a look on eBay and there are some unofficial sets avaliable for those labelled "06 onwards" would those be just as good? Correct me if I'm wrong, the set should comprise of 1x driver, 1x front passenger and 1x backseats (one big one)?

Thanks!

You're spot on. You need a set of mats for the "06-on" model, both 3 and 5 door are the same and there will be three mats.

My advise is to try and get a set of "original Toyota" mats off eBay.

I bought what were meant to be highest quality tailored mats off eBay and they did look very good quality - but they wore through on the drivers side in just 9 months and 6000 miles...

I've since bought two sets of "original Toyota" mats off eBay (one new and one used) and the have been much more hardwearing.

The secondhand mats came out of a 2006 car and had been used for 18 months before he sold them - and there wasn't a wear mark on them....

The original Toyota mats come with peg clips for the drivers side but if you get some that don't, the dealers will provide you with them for a few pence (mine actually just gave me a pair of clips without charge when I asked at the Service Counter...)

The Original mats come in black and grey. Mine ended up both grey and I personally preferred the black colour, but that's just personal preference...

Here you go...

or these (although this shows a left hand drive picture so you'd need to check they are RHD mats)...

I negotiated a new set of mats while doing the deal along with scuff plates

Any new car that I’ve bought I try and get a few things thrown in to seal the deal. The eBay ones are the same.

Thanks for those links alfiejts, I saw the first one on eBay but just wanted to make sure they will fit in the more recent models, I will be keeping my eye on it.

I have a funny feeling the dealer won't throw them in for free as I managed to get such a cracking deal already on the car. I have asked them whether they would do it at trade price but they never got back to me. Still I may end up grabbing a bargain on eBay :)

If he won't throw new ones in, ask him if he's any used ones he could put in.... "anything to protect the carpets"

That's what I did with one of mine... They weren't perfect but had only been used in a demonstrator and there were just a few marks on the drivers mat - which they would soon get anyway...

and of course it meant that the clips were fitted which might be missing on an a set bought elsewhere...
