Celica Abs Help Needed !

Hi group,

I'm new to Toyota's and am on the verge of buying a 1.8ST Celica T reg.

Trouble is - it is at the auctions (my dad works there so I have some privelidges), the price is good, but the ABS warning light is on.

The car goes thro' next Thursday, so I'm trying to find out how to diagnose this fault.

If its a wheel sensor, that's no problem, but if its the ABS pump/valve block - I've heard it could cost £2K to fix.

Is there any way I can read the fault codes without any special equipment ? - or is there anyone in the Leicestershire area with a fault reader they could lend me - or come and do the test for me (for pound notes obviously !!).

Please help, as I would desperately love to be the proud new owner of this vehicle.

Thanks,

PAul.

It's complicated but:

By putting a jumper cable between T1 nad E1 i think, connectors, then it'll bring up the diagnostics - ie MIL will flash to represent code, but your going to need all the info on the codes, how to read it from the flashing, where the conectors are etc, and then i'm not sure if it'll even give you any detail on the brakes - its mainly for engine problems.

Try searching www.celicaclub.co.uk for the trade manual they've got available for download - this would help you.

Shortty

P.s. i'm not plugging celicaclub i swear, just co-incidence.

Just after i bought my P reg 1.8st, a year ago, the ABS light came on, was the cable or summing, cost about £250 to replace.
