Ep82 Full Beam Problem

Hey Guys,

Well this is the last place I ask before im to bite the bullet and take it to my local Toyota to get it sorted (ouch).

Last week my 1994 EP82 import failed its MOT on the N/S full beam not working. It was not the bulbs as they were both changed before hand, and all the fuses are still intact, both under the bonnet and under the dash.

Im not sure if it has a relay for the operation on dip/full beam, but can only assume that works (if there is one) because the drivers side works perfectly.

Many people have sugested that its a loose earth somewhere because of how the electric system system works on the Jap motors, but to be honest im utter toss when it comes to electrics, I think they're sneaky, so I wouldn't have a clue where to start looking.

Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the wire trace or a sorted tip that fixes this?

It really would be helpfull, as all thats stands in the way of me enjoying my car is a little pissy fault somewhere.

Thanks Tyler

try running a wire from your driver side bulb to the passanger side bulb - i know it is a bit unorthodox method but that should see you through MOT as a temp measure. Im pretty sure that is how my missus almera is done, which was like that when she bought it, and just passed MOT 2nd time around without problem.

There you go, good luck! You will be better off posting future Starlet problems in the starlet section, I will have better chance of finding them to help lol!

Enjoy the car, I miss mine
