Lpg On An Avensis

With larger, thirstier vehicles LPG is often fitted. I think there are remarkably few Toyotas fitted with LPG. This is surprising with the Avensis seeing so many of them being used as taxis. It is harder to fit LPG into a really thoroughly designed car where every inch is put to use. There is no extra insurance to pay but you must have an LPGA certificate and you must tell the insurance company. You also get it added to your Log Book at the DVLA. I have been searching for a company thet seemed enthusiastic about fitting LPG to an Avensis. I think it is a bit of a pain fitting it to an unfamiliar model!

If anyone is driving a Toyota with LPG I would be interested in hearing about your experience and which sort of system you chose and why. Thanks. R.

We have had this brought up on the forum before. If I remember correctly, there was nobody with an LPG Avensis and the opinion was that the Avensis wasn't suitable for conversion and it was not recommended. Other factors were the cost and the inconvenience (having a second tank taking up space) balanced against any savings, for most people wasn't worth it.

hello, i too recall some other posts on here before about LPG on an Avensis. I seem to remember most other forum users who had gone down this path before had found that a vvti engine is not suitable for conversion. most companies wont even do it! sounds like a non starter to me....

:)
