Engine Fault Code P0200

Hi,

Sorted my starting problem, turned out to be dodgy starter, a new problem has now reared its head. The car will run fine for five ten mins, then It will then lose power and go into limp mode, turning the key off and on again will give full power again for a brief period. Engine managment is showing up a p0200 code, (powertrain - injector control circuit) Have checked all connections and all seems good, so signs of leaks either. Anyone had this problem before? or know what other areas I can check?

Hello everyone,

yeh i have the same problem, my car wouldnt start it is a 2005 55reg 2.2 d4d t spirit. Thought it was a dodgy Battery as have been jump starting it past few days. Now try to start it and nothing - so replaced the Battery and it still would not start. Attatched a diagnostics machine to it and getting the fault code p200 or p0200 injector circuit open.

Can any one shed some light on this matter please

hi,

if i was to hazard a guess i would say it could be 1 of 2 things, 1st check the wires and plugs to all injectors, 2nd it is possible that the regulator in the fuel pump could be faulty.

Hey folks did you manage to sort this problem or is there anybody who can shed some light....my car is doing the same thing and i'm facing a £1000 bill which I think may be ott

Hi,

This may not be of much help to you, but this is typically the kind of problem that goes beyond random guesswork and likely beyond the skills of a DIY-er.

The P0200 error can point to a variety of things, including the wiring/connectors, the EDU, the ECM, one or more injectors, or a combination of these.

What is needed here is a proper testing device, to read all the relevant DTCs plus the co-called Freeze-Frame-Data.

The Freeze-Frame-Data is a valuable record of many engine parameter values from the time an error occurred and the error codes were stored.

And if the diagnostic process leads to question the injectors or a failing ECM, you need a oscilloscope to find out.

Not many DIY-ers have that.

I recommend consulting a good auto electrician, or a Toyota dealer.

If you know what causes the problem, you can still decide to do the repair yourself.

In the end it's probably money well spent, as it avoids replacing some expensive parts that are not at fault at all.

As this seems to be a fuel injection problem, with the above mentioned proper testing device, you can see the internals of the engine at work.

You can see the commands from the ECM being sent to the injectors, how much fuel is injected on each cycle, the confirmation of the injectors that they have "injected", etc.etc.

For instance, only a single such missing confirmation is enough for the ECM to raise a P0200 error, store a Freeze-Frame, and set "Fail-Safe", or limp mode, to protect the engine from possible damage.

Thanks so much for that....bit beyond my knowledge level but useful none the less....I had to go with the garage repair in the end at £650 ouch but I'm confident i didn't get ripped off?? The car needed a new Driver Injector 89871-71010 a new Battery and the diagnostic you talk of from Toyota....

I expect that if you could find this part cheap it looks like a plug in with 4 screws it may be a fast track to a repair but that is just my totally non mechanic offer of a cheap repair???
