2006 Avensis Sensor Failures

Watcha, one of my friends suggested putting a post on here in case anyone has had a similar problem.

I've got a September 2006 Avensis, 1.8l petrol engine, with approx 35,000 miles on the clock.

Two Sundays ago the engine started running rather rough and cut out a couple of times. Took the car to the dealer who identified the fault as a failure of the cam shaft sensor. Sensor was replaced on the Tuesday. Three days later on the Friday the engine cut out whilst driving home.

I was unable to restart the car for about an hour. When I could the engine ran for approx 20 seconds before cutting out. Towed to the dealer where the fault was diagnosed as the failure of the crank shaft sensor. That was replaced on Wednesday.

On Sunday whilst driving the engine fault light came on (didn't seem to affect the running of the car). Got the dealer to check it today to be told that the Lamda sensor needs to be replaced.

Apparently, in the service manager's experience, he has never seen three sensors fail in such a short space of time.

Has anyone else experienced such a problem and, more importantly, can anyone suggest an explanation??

Thanks in anticipation.
