Hi Guys,

I live in Galway, Ireland and I have a 2005 Toyota Corolla 5 door Hatchback.

It has a 1.4 litre engine and I love it completely.

Are there any suggestions on modifying the engine to maybe get a bit of extra juice out of it?

Or will I just end up ruining my car?

Any advice would be very welcome?

Thanks,

Carey

Hi mate, because it is such a small engine there isn't much you can do.

However, the 1ZZ 2ZZ and 3ZZ engines all share the same block, the differences are the crank, rods and pistons. What you can do it swap out you crank, rods and pistons for those of the 2ZZ-GE CTS engine which will up the displacement to 1.8 Litres and give you power to match.

Madvinager has done this and it came up trumps, so you will have someone able to help.

Sorry but I don't personally know. PM Parts King and ask him the prices of all those parts and get the price of a 2ZZ so you can maybe get one and nick the parts from it.

Also worth asking madvinager as he has done it.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but itsn't it the 1ZZ, 3ZZ and 4ZZ?

The 2ZZ is different :P

Most likely is. Never claimed to have done it or know the exact details, hence why I said: ASK MADVINAGER

Here we go:

I have a blue corolla E12 2004 model, 5door pro-f/l, which was initially 1.4 liters but I have converted it to 1.8 liters by using parts from an 1zzfe engine.

So, taking in mind that the engine blocks for 1zz, 3zz and 4zz engines are the same, I have replaced the pistons, the connecting rods and the crankshaft with the ones of a 1zz engine (celica 1zz).

I have also replaced my intake manifold and the throttle body with the ones of an Mr2 (1zz).

There, sorted.

True. The parts I used were from the 1zz engine. The 2zz don't fit.
