Rusty Door Hinge Bolts

The Wife's 2 Year old Toyota Verso D4D rear door fixing bolts are going rusty.

I asked about them a couple of weeks ago when it went in for it's 20K service.

To me it looks like the 8 bolts which go into the rear doors from the hinges are not painted

They look a different colour silver, more bare metal.

Anyway they wiped the rust stains off the pillars and told me its only "Cosmetic" so not covered by the warranty :o

Anyone else got "Rusty Bolts" ?

Even My 10 year old Ford hasn't got rust stains down the door pillars.

Looks like the anti-corrosion plating has begun to fail on the bolt heads. It won't affect the car structurally or mechanically but lets be honest it is poor quality indeed. Looks like another cost cutting exercise. The same thing is happening to chrome headed wheel nuts and bolts on many models.

Come on Mr T your standards are slippimg and it shows - even the dog in the street would know such areas shouldn't rust and corrode in such a short time. :ffs:

doesn't look right at all.

i work at the burnaston factory (we don't make the verso) and any bolts that are subject to the elements are galvanised finish ( they look like the ones in pic 2) they shouldn't be rusting. might be worth sending these pics to customer relations.

yes it is only cosmetic but its also very visible and for the cost of the bolts (probably less than a tenner) i would expect them to change them.

Thanks for the replies

I have now got Toyota UK's Email address and sent them the pictures.

Hopefully common sense will prevail.

It does look like they were not coated correctly.

Not what I would expect from Toyota and on a car costing 20K plus.
