Sr180 Wheel Alignment ?

My front tyres have both worn badly on the outside edge i believe the last place i had the alignment done may of

set it up using the standard suspension defaults instead of the correct ones for the lowered sr180.

Basically i got the car and done about 7k then got nail in the passenger side front so had to replace it.

I got to 20k and the driver side front was bald on the outer edge so took it for a new tyre and had the alignment

done since then i have a slight drift to the left, now i can see the passenger side tyre is going on the outside as well.

I have attached the alignment report, can anyone check out for me and advise as i am going to have to get the tyre replaced soon. To be honest i think this has been wrong since i have had the car.

Thanks

Andy

is it lowered from standard or have u lowered it, the garage will use the settings listed on there computer for the model of your car, unless they used the settings for a different model in which case will be different and will ruin ya tyres, i will have a look at work and find the settings for you and u can take these to the garage to see if they have used the right settinigs

Thanks SRsmithy,

The car is totally standard and is lowered from factory, i reckon the setting they used are for the t180.

I had our T180 4 wheel laser aligned at a local specialist, I was quoted £35 for the check and £7.50 to alter the front and £7.50 for the rear what made it at worse £50 which is a good price.

When I got there it took them ages to find the T180 on the system as it appeared they did not have the Auris on there but they set it up then charged me £7.50 to alter each corner not front and rear  . They would not budge on the price when I told them what I was quoted and for the next bombshell that was not mentioned on the phone was this is all + Vat.

Anyway I was still a little concerned about the settings as they struggled to find the car but I drove away assured it was spot on, we then found the car tracked very nervous on the road and also seemed twitchy so I contacted MR T and asked if they could tell me what the 4 Wheel laser setting are for a T180. MR T got me a print out and what I saw was not a shock as the settings where way out so I returned to the 4 wheel specialist where I shown them the correct settings from MR T and what they had done and got a full refund, I then booked the car in with MR T £80 no hidden extras and even got a courtesy car instead of waiting 2 hours while they mess about like the other place and got it correctly set up.

I think you can clearly see here from this what the moral of the story is and IMO was well worth the money and should have done it 1st time instead of trying to save £30 which in the end was less than £10.

hi Andy SR180, sorry ive took so long in finding the settings, according to autodata, the program we use at work the settings are the same for all 2.2d models.

they are set at +1mm, ive also spoken to toyota who also said they are the same.

now for the baffling part, there is something called bump steer on a car, if the car is not weighted correctly this will effect the alignment of the vehicle.

bump steer is where the front end will drop and around 60mph which is why u weight the car down to mimic the speed,

i lowered mine 30mm so had to do mine, ive tracked mine without weighting the car BUT set the alignment to +2mm and not had any problems at all

Does this mean if the sr180 suspension is fitted to a standard, it needs to be aligned differently?
