How easy and how do you replace the boot seal on a 04 Celica? The one on the car is split at the moment but have a new one.

Easy,should'nt take you more than an hour, remove the rear shelf/parcel tray, start from the bottom corner by lifting up and removing the old seal carry on lifting/pulling off the seal round the boot/tailgate frame. You might feel a slight resistance as the seal lifts off caused by the old sealant/adhesive. Once removed clean off all the old sealant with white spirit or similar, becareful though not to use a to agressive solvent like thinners etc. or you might start disolving the paint work!

Once all cleaned off you can then hold the new seal up to the frame lip, check and match the seal against the contours of the frame, make sure that the heat bonded joint of the seal is at the top centre. Once satisfied that you know where the seal is going to be positioned apply a coating of silicone sealer around the frame lip, then starting from the top centre press the seal into the lip, you can work both sides as you start coming down pressing firmly into the corners as the seal follows the contours of the lip. To make sure that the seal is sitting firmly in place you can thump the seal with the side of your hand,and thats all there is to it, simple
