Hi

could any one advise - My 2003 T4 has started to have vague steering - it feels like Im on ice sometimes when driving in straight lines and I have to keep slightly correcting. All my tyres are in good nick and have loads of tread left. Could it be tracknig or something more serious?

Check the tyre pressures, have the alignment done and see if it makes a difference. Next step would be ensuring the wheels are balanced. Those are the simple things I know about checking. Other than that check perhaps for any knocking; I know I have a lower ball joint gone on my '04 T3-S. Not sure if that would make the steering "vague" though, I'm no expert. Just simple checks you can make.

Would agree with AvensiSpain04, Had a similar problem with my 2010 T4 after I hit a kerb, had the tracking/alignment checked all ok but found that one the tyres had low pressure. Once all tyres were at the correct pressure the vauge steering went away but whilst at the Tyre fitters they also suggested rotataing the wheels/tyres as different wear patterns across tyres can cause this type of problem. The good thing is that most tyre fitters dont charge for checking the alignment its the adjustment they charge for circa £20.

Best of luck
