Proximity Alarm Adjustment - Where Is It Please?

Hi all and just joined today and have tried responding to several posts to be of help.

Please can anybody help me?

I have a Celica GT 190 Gen 7 2005 plate.

The problem is the alarm never goes off when I stand close to the car and even if I touch the doors etc.

I know the 3 settings available using the fob but only ever leave it on the second option (2 presses).

I have removed the metal can air freshener and any metallic items from the cup holder and armrest compartment but no joy.

I read that the sensor can be adjusted under the gearstick area.

I removed the gearstick gaiter and the power window switches but can't find any alarm or sensor to adjust.

Can someone please explain if there is an option to adjust it and if so the EXACT place to look to find it please.

Many thanks.

Dave

I think you'll find that no Gen 7's have a proximity alarm.

The control unit for interior alarm sensitivity is under the centre arm rest, there is a dial type adjustment.

HTH Dave :)

Hi Dave, thanks for your reply.

I may have been a little confused, when you say interior alarm are you referring to a motion type sensor rather than a proximity outside detection sensor please ?

Sorry Kev lol,

Cheers for that.

I'll leave well alone then as it only goes off on it's own when I have left a vent open.

Don't really see the need for interior sensor if you can't leave the windows open when armed :)

Thanks again.

Regards,

Dave

If a low life **** broke a window to reach inside, the interior sensors should trigger the car's alarm and indicators.

My alarm has only sounded once when I left a couple of keys in one of the cup holders.

Glad to be of help, BTW :)
