Avensis - Headlights

Hi, Can anyone offer advice on a problem that I have with a 3 year old Avensis (08 Reg) - under warranty until 1st March 2011. The offside front headlight has an awful lot of condensation on the inside of the headlamp glass. Have arranged to have it inspected by a Toyota dealer to see if this is a warranty item. I bought the car second hand with the balance of the manufacturers warranty which I am going to extend for a further 2 years next month.

John,

Of course it's a warranty problem, unless you've been fitting / had fitted upgraded headlight bulbs, and the muppet (yerself excluded) didn't properly refit the big rubber sealer doughnut dooda.

Interesting that my Avensis does not have the Doughnut dooda. When I took it to Toyota they said it does not have one

I only took ownership of the car a couple of weeks ago so it wasn't me who changed lamps. Don't think any upgraded lamps have been fitted so pleased that it can resolved under warranty. This is being looked at next week by the Toyota dealer in Cheltenham, so will post the outcome. Initial comment by their service guy that it is a warranty item - fingers crossed! Thanks, John

I had the same problem and found that the doughnut dooda had not been put back, replaced and the problem went away. My local Toyota dealer told me (after one of their 'free' inspections) that I would have to buy a new light unit. They didnt even spot the missing dooda! They also told me that all 4 discs needed replacing, and sure enough I replaced them..... about two years later when they actually neede replacing...muppets!

If it's the same light as was on my 2006 Avensis, the only thing that stopped them condensing was THE RUBBER SEAL....methinks they are inadvertently misleading you, Roker, giving them the benefit of the doubt. Had both my headlights done under warranty back in 2009.
