Parking Sensors Stopped Working

Have an 06 tourer with parking sensors that don't sense!!

Pretty sure they are factory fitted on my T180, although recently told by an 'expert' they are after-market fitted.

Anyway, they are the proper toyota sensors complete with manual etc. There is a button on the dash board that shrieks when i press and hold it in, but no isolator switch in the boot for the rear sensors. Walked around my car many times with it in gear and reversed (unintentionally) into a hedge, but no beeps at all :(

Toyota dealer quoted £950 for complete re-fit (ouch!),

Anyone had theirs suddenly stop working? And can advise on a quick and cheap solution!!

p.s.Would they have been on the car from the beginning or fitted at a later date?

If they are factory fitted then look for safety pull cord in the boot. you need to turn it off. If you cannot find it or its not there or these are not factory fitted then for cheaper options, use 'search' option and you will come across many postings and one by myself putting all the photos.

You can do it as cheap as 30-50 pounds (without colour coding) and about 80-100 with colour coding.

Hope it helps.

if you have rear sensors only (& not front & rear) it should be "only" around £300-400 to fit new as a dealer fit option incl. drilling the holes in the bumper & colour matching the sensors ...

Mine went quieter than normal for a while - turned out that there was a poor connection (somewhere in the rear nearside quarter where the box is on mine behind the trim).

When you say they have stopped woking, does that mean they did work at one point? In the Verso the disable switch is behind the trim you remove to access the rear light cluster, have you taken any trim out of the boot to look for a disable switch?

With the sensors enabled on the Verso there are two beeps when you engage reverse, one to tell you that you are in reverse and the other to say the sensors are active. When you disable the sensors and engage reverse you only get one beep. The number of beeps should tell you if the sensors have been disabled or not.
