Hi guys advice needed i got hit up the rear by a police car and some weeks later a car ran down the side of me in a petrol station the car went in to A W Repairs south yorkshire and on what was supossed to be the collection date i went over and had a look at the finished product to my dismay the bumper had been repaired and was a very distictive diferent shade of colur to the rest of the car as was, but not so much the drivers side front wing, and both doors. Iwas told it was due to the laquer being applied needless to say i have rejected the car and they are going to attempt to recrify it but i am not hope ful is there some kind of body i can go to for an independant inspection to the repairs if iam not satisfied with the second attempt in regards of the colour match thanks in advance, by the way the car is what toyota call venetian blue.

Check if the company doing the work is a member of VBRA - the Vehicle Builders and Reapirers Association - you may be able to raise a complaint to them.:)

Hello, is that the venetian blue that's more of a silver? The paint job is clear over base colour so I don't think the lacquer is at fault, looking at the paint shop application spec that Toyota give then it would be quite easy to get it wrong if they don't follow the rules. Speak to your insurer and tell them your concerns, this is one of the reasons I insured my car with Toyota as they guaranteed to repair my car in a dealers using genuine parts.

Good luck, Pete.

If the paint doesn't match then the job isn't finished. They may have to blend in other panels to achieve a good match. If so they should do this for no extra charge as they have entered into a contract with you/your insurers at the price they tried to get you to pay 1st time around. Stick to your guns & make them get it right.

Thanks for the input so far, as the car is a taxi i really need it back even though the insurance company have given me a replacement vehicle it is not on a par with the avensis (59 plate basic ford mondeo) so some work i cannot do with this hateful car. (now i know why i dont have fords) and also because of problems in the past getting toyota to replace the engine i really have to live with the avensis for at least another 3 years and it will do my head in having to wash a tri colour car. I have lost all confidence with the repairers and if it is not right this time i am going to have to accept it back under protest and maybe get an independant report to pass to the insurance company and hopefully get it redone by another repairer. The anoying thing is they are not a backstreet garage and are suposed to have state of the art equipment and approved staff in hindsight maybe i should have insisted on the car being repaired by toyota as i think would have been my right but its the other parys insurance company that have A W on their list. Anyway thanks again and i will keep you posted, due to pick my car up on the 22nd, and by the way new engine performing great, so far done about 20.000 miles still a bit paranoid and keep looking under the bonnet more than necessary but time will tell.

state of the art equipment is still operated by a human being. If they are having a bad day so does the equipment. Also, a number of Toyota dealers don't have their own body shop and sub it out to a licenced repairer. Should be better than any old insurance approved place though. Beware accepting the car under protest - you may find that an acceptance becomes 'full acceptance' in the end. I seem to remember a whole thread about a similar thing on a bike forum. Check your rights and if the courtesy car they have given you is not up to the job get your insurers to sort a better one. Thats why we pay them.
