Lift?

Hi. Noobie here.

Ok so its time to get rid of my scooby and get something that won't cost the earth to run. After deciding an st170 is still not insurance friendly enough I came across the T Sport... now i'm quite excited about it and may be picking one up at the weekend. I just have one question...

What exactly is this 'lift' that everyone goes crazy about?

I've read the technical stuff about the vvtli engine on wiki but interested to know in simple terms what difference lift makes.

Please explain!

Thanks

the car comes "on cam" @ 6200rpm and goes crazy up to 8200rpm redline

Lift is from the vvtl-i or vavriable valve timing with valve lift inteligence

you can pick one up for alot less than a ST aswel ,and insurance is pretty cheap for the performance

mpg with me is 28mpg on avg mix of town n short mway ,so itl feel like a diesel coming from a subaru

happy hunting and welcome to the forum

Cheers.

plus the st is still a focus, just like every other car on the road. I much prefer to have something 'different'.

yes the insurance and mpg will be great compared to what i have atm! planning to view two TS's on sat so if all goes well I will buy one and post pix in a few days time.

Actually the ST170 Focus's are suprisingly cheap to buy at the moment (not the ST)

But yes your right, you get stung on insurance group 15? and more tax. It has nice low down torque and is great for quiet cruising.

But .. it has less power and weights quite a bit more and redlines at 7200rpm.

My mate had an ST170, they have a few problems that make them expensive cars to run, clutch change requires a new dual mass fly wheel and the coolant system is ****, his had permanant problems. Plus it felt slow, very slow, my little 1.6 VTI Civic was considerably quicker
