Compressor Warning Lights

Just in the comp and noticed that engine management vsc and trc off lights are illuminated on the dashboard I've read this is bad before but what does it mean and what have I got to do?

1st thing you should do is ,resest the ecu ,if they stay way problem solved :thumbsup:

if they come back get the code read asap

i have the same problem. i'm guessing you have am induction kit installed?

if so then the sensor thinks that there is too much air going through the engine. this causes the engine management light to come on, which turns off the traction and stability control to stop from further damaging the engine in the event of a real fault.

you have three options:

1. reset the ecu (u can try this or get a garage to do it for like £20), but the lights will come on again at some point.

2. ignore it ( it will eventually settle itself and turn the lights off again, usually takes about 2 days)

3. buy and install a wide band lambda sensor (this will stop the lights ever coming on again for this reason, but it costs about £90 for a good one)

personally, i just leave it for a couple of days and it sorts itself out, theres no point in shelling out £90 for a faulty sensor

P.S. i wouldn't worry about the traction control being off (unless ur in snow). as long as you're not ragging it around a track then it rarely kicks in on public roads. the handling and balance of the car is spot on and better than most high powered FF's

This happened to me on Friday morning.

I pulled over at the side of the road and disconnected the negative terminal on the Battery and left it for 5 minutes then reconnected it - resetting the ecu.

This cleared the warning lights.

Once I got to work I took out the MAF sensor (I've got a k & n induction kit) and the sensor was black, not the amber colour its meant to be.

So I cleaned it with some IPA and a cotton bud. No problems since

Thanks for the info and my cars totally standard apart from some samco silicone hoses on the intake and a stainless cat back, but will defo check a few things today!

Mine has done it randomly when driving slowly in traffic etc, all courtesy of the blitz sus. At first however it was doing it quite regular, and upon inspection I found out my MAF wire was loose so unfortunately had to buy a new one :wacko:

Just popped the MAF out and it was bogging so just cleaned it and will get the codes read this week just hope that was it!

just got this on my corolla Tsport was wondering at first then stuck on the diagnostic reader to find out it was a secondray intake code it gave

was gonna ask when i installed the typhoon induction kit was i just meant to leave the little vacuum sensor at the bottom unlugged or do something else with it :D instructions were a bit gaff on the K&N :D

If you fitted and induction and you got the air pump code your vac hoses are routed wrong.

In simple terms ALL you need to do is when fitting an aftermarket intake is put all the old vac hoses in the box!

Keep one vac hose going from the inlet manifold nipple down to under a check valve under the throttle body.

Then one hose from the throttle body goes to the left side of the engine. That should solve it.

The brown connectors, The blue white ball connector thing dont need to be used.
