Can anyone give advice on how to replace wing mirror (passenger side)- electric type - not heated - unit on a '99 Avensis. Need help with easiest way of accessing the electical connector so I can remove the whole unit.

Hi Graeme,

I have not had to do this on my car but if they are similar to the Carina (from which they evolved)then the door panel has to be removed to access the multiplug. To access mounting screws i think you prise of the triangular trim from the inner door. Don't forget to disconnect the Battery first. Let me know how things progress.

Is it possible to reach the multi plug to disconnect it , by taking off just some of the screws, without having to take the whole door panel off - not keen to have to do this.

Graeme, I can't really say but I would guess that the whole door panel has to be removed otherwise you may cause cosmetic damage. Have you posted this query on the Carina forum? Maybe worth a try.

The door panel is easy to remove - screw in door handle, plus remove upper door storage to access two more screws. Undo the plastic screw clips and then the plastic cover to the door mirror. Remove door trim.

Now you have slice the plastic if necessary to disconnect the door mirror. Then you can undo the 3 bolt holding the mirror.

That is a rough guide you should be able to achieve your goal.

Good luck.
