Hi all

I am looking to buy a 2000 Corolla 1.4 VVTi GLS 5dr Liftback. I have a few questions I am hoping you can help me with. Are there any known faults/things to look out for with the vvti engine as oposed to non vvti? Does this model have a timing belt or chain? If belt - what is the changing intervals? Hope you can help

Cheers

I know that the earlier VVti engines had oil burning issues, but do not know if the 1.4 engine was affected.

Mine certainly does use a lot of oil :crybaby: .Apart from this and a notchy gearbox at times it's a pretty good buy.Another thing to check is the the starting of the car.Mine and others I have heard of have a faulty switch on the back of the ignition barrel which can make starting a bit hit and miss especially in humid weather.Oh,and the fog light switch can have a mind of its own.Make sure it doesn't come on when you switch the sidelights on and if you can drive with the headlights on for a while, that the foglight doesn't come on when on bumpy roads.

Hope this helps and good luck with the viewing
