Just browsing old e to the bay and came across these:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Bonnet-Raisers-23mm-Toyota-Corolla-T-Sport-/280661269360?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4158b71b70#ht_698wt_905

raise the bonnet up by 2.3cm?

Is there any advantage to something like this if youve got an open cone?

Also, can anyone tell me what GAUGE the wiring is from the MAF? cheers

Bonnet raisers help remove heat from the engine bay.

I made my own raisers if you haven't got any tooling to make your own just use some washers.

Would remove the rubber seal off the back trim under the bonnet for max air flow out the gap created by the raisers.

The main thing to do also is to adjust the alarm switch for the bonnet

Other wise your alarm will keep going off.

Cant help bout the maf wire guage, but i have raised by bonnet at the rear and love the look of it.

Not really sure if it helps but it looks good lol

The thickness of the wire to maf is not that important as it only carries 5v and no amps, what is more important is the quality of the connections as this will affect resistance (ohms) keep the resistance as low as poss because if not that will influence the ecu and cause untold running problems

ive done mine too with washers, it must help a little, any airflow is better than nonew surerly. plus it lets more of that gorgeous cone filter noise out. does look good too depending on what kind of style your tuning towards.

would the incorrect gauge of wire not affect resistance though? Say if you use to thin a wire the resistance would go up? And also the length of the wire not increase resistance to if its to long? Had bonnet lifters on the fez but got fed up of my mates asking why i did it lol so took them off

how can i insure the best connection?

soldering?

im using crimped bullet connectors at the moment

Bin the bullet connectors, they're pretty useless in the long run. Get some shrink wrap, slide a length over one wire, twist the 2 ends together and put a decent amount of solder on there. Put the shrink wrap over the joint and apply some heat, and you're done. Personally I'd then wrap the whole lot in some electrical tape or plastic conduit to keep it all neat!

lifting the bonnet will have no affect on a corolla people just do this for looks..it started off on road drag cars... with very high engine temps they raised the rear off the bonnet the cold air passing over the top pulls the air out the rear raised section can look good if done correcty...

what puts me off it is the looks you get and the........when did you bump your car and your bonnet is sitting funny ......questions..
