P1010237.jpg

Have owned her since 32'000 miles

She still feels new...ish,despite letting me down twice in last two years. (split Vsv hose last year & then SCV valves recently)

Still getting 35mpg,2 batteries,2nd set of brakes,2nd set of tyres,(only maintenance really) apart from DMF & clutch

Could she do 200'000. mmmmm

My number 1 RAV is still doing well after 180k miles... but then again I suppose I cheated by putting a better engine in?

Hi bothy

You didnt cheat, you just..........improved it & added more horses

Well TBH, my rav4 has to stay anyway,i have become quite attached to it over the last 6 1/2 years. Its comfy , light , reasonable to run , just the right size for me , me bike goes on the roof , me walking gear goes in the back , take out the rear seats for the rubbish run to the dump.

I cannot think of another vehicle which i like as much at the moment , the suzuki vitara is too noisy & seems gutless in comparison , the jimney is too small & bouncy ,nissan x trails are too square,LR freelanders....well their are very nice,but..... its.......a........LR ,dont trust em.

Diahatsu terios just looks wierd.

Had considered a VW Tiguan, but too much money for my pocket.

If only toyota would make another 3 door rav4 diesel

There is quite simply nothing in the market that appeals to me at the moment,to give me what i need, even if the rav packed up.

140,000 so far, not bad for a car which is 16 yrs old, but I fear it is about to die.

Hi whiteclaw

I know this may sound daft,but.........i assume you have a propshaft,?

When i had my DMF renewed last year the silly....:censor: ...toyota technician who done the job left my propshaft center bracket loose on its mounting bolts.

So whenever i accellerated i got this banging noise directly under the floor right between the seats,as the prop would spin faster the bracket would just slightly loosly knock against the underside of my rav.

If the bracket bolts had worked undone totally........well i dread to think what may have happened...,prop off....,digs in road at 70mph..rav4 flips / rolls and .....me well erm....possibly dead.

I did get a free service though :ffs:

Well unfortunatly for me (fortunatly for them),i had calmed down a bit over the weekend when it happened last year. When i reported it to them on the monday morning after having the AA out to tighten the bolts ,they sent their service receptionist to collect the rav from my workplace to re inspect tieir work.

He was told to say nothing to me ......just collect my keys, and return the rav to me later in the day. With their word that it would be thouroughly checked over.

If it would have been a recovery job back to dealership....yes i would have gone :censor: :censor: :censor: :censor: :censor:

The AA breakdown man just couldn't believe it,as i sat in the cambridge services with rav4 jacked up having my bolts done up properly.

I did take a few pic's of the loose bolts, printed them out & left the pic's on the passenger seat for the toyota service mananger to see.

Another quality job by a Toyota dealership.........well done Toyota. £100 per hr well spent.......LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A 12 year old would have spotted that one. Dealerships are no better than back street mechanics in my book. In fact I would say a lot could well be better.

I would have stuck that propshaft up the technicians/Donkeys back side

O dear I`m off again....... :help:

One of my favourate stories is of when my mate refitted his gearbox to his Hilman Imp (I know). Put the box on but forgot the bolts. I went to drive it out of the garage for him and the inevitable happened. Stil lmakes me laugh now.

  • 2 weeks later...

my petrol rav is on around 137,000 and its a 2004 last service I had on it (not at toyota) the mechanic said it drove amazingly well considering the mileage. I've had it since 63,000 and its only had 3 services in that time.
