Rav4 - Ring Ursa Daytime Running Lights

I know that DRLs are a bit "MARMITE". Since they appeared on the roads on AUDIs and MERCs I can really see their benefit. Living in a very forested location cars are much more noticable when going along country lanes - especially when the tree canopy makes the whole road very dark. Yes I know I could just turn on my headlights - and I used to! - the sidelights on the RAV are next to useless.

I spent ages photoshopping various "Road Legal" DRLs to see what would look most like they were meant to be there. Unlike some illegal kiddies you see with all manner of fairy LEDs which stay on all the time. :ffs:

I went for Ring URSA model which have 8 x 1.5w LEDs per lamp. Really well made and with new custom stainless steel brackets made they fitted perfectly.

Personally I am really pleased with them. They turn on with the ignition and then switch off as soon as the sidelights are switched on (AS Legally they are supposed to)

They look really good Lee but, Man, your house has been hit by some kind of nuclear fallout by the look of it

Obviously, James T.Kirk has given instructions to "beam up that house, Scotty", but he doesn't like Ravs, so left it alone...!!! Nice DRLs Lee, and positioned as you have them, a bit less prone to oncoming drivers getting "rabbit" syndrome and staring at them. Still have a slight built in resistance to their aesthetics generally....just me.

Big Kev
