Looking For A 4.1 Cargo Cover, Or Part Of... ?

Can anyone help me on a quest to obtain the most important final piece to my Rav4 jigsaw. :)

I have a cargo cover for my recently purchased 1997 5door Rav4, but it isnt useable because the rod/tube designed to slot into the holes in the rear door frame is no longer operating properly. I think it may have at one time contained a spring, but that is now missing.

So my quest is to either find a working tube/rod for a 4.1 cargo cover, or alternatively buy a complete working cargo cover. I use the Net to search over 300 breakers/salvage yards in the UK every month, but so far no luck.

If anyone should have or ever come across either of those items, please bear me in mind.

The details of my vehicle are as follows:

04/95-08/97 Rav4 2.0 5-door Automatic

Vin: JT172SC11 Model Code: SXA11R-AWPGKW Frame: SXA11 Chactrstcs: EUR HT RHD 3SFE ATM 5D

Cheers!

Can you not find a suitable spring or fashion one yourself?

I guess you might find a cargo cover as described is a bit liking finding hens teeth. I've never seen one.

As davrav says, maybe its a case of fabricating something to suit. Bits off an old pram ???

Ha! Ha! You guys have obviously never had the opportunity to witness my handy-man skills. Me messing around with springs has seriously dangerous potential! :death:

When I had my MK 1 it didn't have a load cover I found an expanding bathroom shower rail that locked when you twisted the two pieces and the ends were a good fit in the locating holes in the back. This when fitted in the lower holes did a good job in stopping things rolling out when the door was opened.

I also seem to remember having in the past a long handled hose mounted car wash brush with a similar extending/locking arrangement, perhaps some thing like those would solve your problem if what you seek is unobtainable

All the best in your search tho' mate.
